Place and Purpose 2009

This is the second Place and Purpose Symposium bringing together people interested in the latest developments and research on Natural Resource Management and Planning. The Symposium builds upon the success of the first event held in Bendigo in 2007 and provides the opportunity to interact with the expertise and technology of the Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI).
The Symposium is being organised by the South Australian Landscape Science Cluster with support from SSI's Spatial Information and Cartography Commission and will feature two days of quality presentations from key note speakers, regional NRM personnel and researchers. The first day is designed to highlight the context, experiences and new developments in tools and processes being applied in regions around Australia. A feature of the afternoon sessions will be a focus on the application of remote sensing to assist planning and monitoring in regions. The second day of the Symposium will feature keynote speakers who will bring national and international perspectives to the developing science of integrated landscape management. These speakers will be complemented by presentations on new technical developments and tools that can be applied to better planning and management of these complex regional systems with changing climate.
The Landscape Science Cluster has formed in South Australia to promote the development of new and improved technologies to help improve the condition of our natural resources. The Cluster brings together government agency, regional and research representatives who want to explore new and more effective ways of achieving the ideals set out in State and National policy aimed at improving and maintaining the condition of our natural resources.
