  • The use of demographic data to target customers for effective marketing campaigns has long been the domain of desktop GIS systems. MarketFind Online is a web based mapping system that allows customers to access comprehensive demographic information through their web browser. No longer is there a need to source, load and manipulate the demographics data, as this is done centrally. Data is kept up to date and integrated with base GIS data sets such as roads and addresses. Census data, suburb profiles, expenditure habits and lifestyle choices along with the customer's own dataset are able to be viewed and reported on.

    This talk outlines the system design utilising Oracle Spatial for the storage and manipulation of all data and how the web browser can be used to perform complex GIS tasks without the need for any desktop GIS software. We'll also highlight how MarketFind Online is used to link into the backend production DB2 database.
