ePlan NSW - Implementing the National Standard
Land and Property Information (LPI) is undertaking a major program that will deliver electronic processing of digital land title plans in NSW.
The main advantages of ePlan include time and cost savings, improved security, enhanced processes and greater plan control. More than 600 surveyors now subscribed to the ePlan system and electronic lodgments represent around 33 per cent of total plan lodgments.
During 2009 the ePlan Program will focus on delivering the key components of a new electronic examination system to process digital land title plans that will provide significant benefits to LPI business activities and the surveying profession. A new internet facility offered through the Spatial Information eXchange (SIX) provides a collaborative work space for surveyors and LPI and introduces new services and ecommerce facilities to meet the online needs of surveyors.
ePlan is based on the practical application of an Australasian standard for cadastral plan data in Land XML format as endorsed by the Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping (ICSM). The move to a digital format will allow surveyors to automatically validate much of the plan data prior to lodgment. Plans will be processed electronically, using a plan examination tool that will check for compliance with relevant legislative and LPI requirements.
By implementing an information management system based upon electronic service delivery, the ePlan Program will ensure LPI’s plan processing is fast and efficient and meets the needs of the growing NSW economy.
